“SO, ARE YOU GOING TO go through with it?” Matt asked as they sat at a private table. After the pair left from The Gateway, he had taken her to an Italian restaurant owned by a local shifter just off the strip.

Simone looked up from her plate of lasagna to give him a flat stare. “I’ve always wanted a change, but my parents wouldn’t let me change my look. They thought it was beneath me to do so.”

As they had driven to the restaurant from the resort, Simone mentioned she wanted a makeover while she was in Vegas. To her, it seemed like an appropriate time since she was starting a new life.

“I’m considering it.”

Matt nodded solemnly. “It’s just hair. If you don’t like it, you can always grow it out.”

“It’s not just hair.” She took another bite before continuing. “I’m starting a new chapter in my life. Simone Williamson is no more. I’m now Lady Simone Silversbane.”

Apparently, that was what Matt was waiting for her to say. “That’s the spirit. Tonight, we’re going to start with court clothing. Tomorrow, during the day, we will take care of your hair. The casino has a magician stylist who can transform you into a whole new woman.”

“What can you tell me about Sascha’s court?” Simone changed the subject while she had Matt in a chatty mood. She didn’t know if she would be near Matt again like this during the trip in such a relaxed setting.

Once they were around the members of the Las Vegas conclave or Sascha’s court, they would have roles they would have to play. Only she really didn’t know what her role was as Andre’s shadow. They had only bonded a week ago.

Hello, she didn’t even know how to interact with Andre. Other than the two days of mind-blowing sex after bonding, he hadn’t shown much interest in getting to know her. Hopefully, after this trip, they could take the time to get to know one another. Otherwise, eternity was a long time to be lonely.

Matt finished chewing his food before answering. “It’s not for the faint of heart,” he drawled. “Some of the most powerful beings in the Americas call that court home.”

“Andre’s court is mostly Nightshade with some shifters and magicians attached to it,” Simone offered.

He nodded. “Expect more shifters to come and petition to join now that you’re there.”

Simone’s eyes widened. “Really?”

“Yes. Word has already spread. I expect that some dragons without a conclave will appear.”

That would piss off her father to no end. But his conclave territory did not extend as far north as the Silversbane estate. And there was no other conclave in Michigan.

Hope that maybe she could be part of a conclave again bloomed in Simone. “Maybe enough dragons will move to the area to form a conclave.”

“That would drive Anthony nuts.” Matt’s smile was pure malice. “The Dragon Council would have no reason to deny a conclave forming.”

Pissing her father off would just be a fortunate byproduct of a new conclave. That alone pushed the desire to invite new dragons into their area to the top of her to-do list.
